I'm in China!!! And it's really, really warm. That combined with a major culture shock, I have to say I'm not really at ease here. But I'm up for the adventure, so there I go!
It took me quiet a while to reach the hostel. But the subway worked really well and everything is also written in English. In the afternoon I went into the city. i visited People's square with a beautiful lotus flower filled pond and Nanjing road. The biggest shopping street in town. There are Chinese everywhere and I don't see that many tourists. People keep telling me to ' watch bag'. Very friendly. Then i realise that they want to sell me a watch or a bag. Uhm:-) Than i point at my own watch and bag and tell them that i allready have very good ones:-) I walk up to the river to the Bund. I thought this was more a place to stroll, but it's really busy. I don't want postcards, Chinese art, kites or skates. The view is very nice i have to say. You look at Pudong. This is newer area with very high buildings. The famous tv tower is here and you can see to big globes along the water.
I take the sightseeing tunnel to Pudong. You step into a small train cabin and you go thruw a tunnel with lights and sounds. Very wierd. I wander around the area a bit and have a look in the Superbrand mall. We sure don't have malls like that. it's huge. There is foodcourt and I try some noodles at a restaurant. Brave me!
Now the jetleg kicks in and I make my way back to the friendly and nice hostel.
