An unexpected trip to Malahide

When I say it was unexpected, I mean that we didn't really plan on going there. We wanted to go to Howth, but when we got to the Connolly DART station, the train to Howth had just left and, unlike our guidebook said, there wasn't another one for the next hour.
When we inquired about this, we were told to go to Malahide and that the ticket we had just bought for Howth would cover it. It was that or sit there for an hour twiddling our thumbs.
So we went.
Malahide had a really nice little station. We checked when our train would head back and then walked into town and out to the water. There really wasn't that much to see, so we retraced our steps and went into a Starbucks for coffee and a sugar fix.
I guess it was then that we decided to visit Malahide Castle, or at least the grounds around the castle. This being Easter Monday, much was closed. There was no arts and crafts market and the castle garden was closed this early in the year. But we enjoyed the walk and being outside in the country, after the grey and dirty Dublin streets.
A few hours later, we took the DART back into town, walked to our guest house to pick up our luggage and then took the AIRLINK to the airport, where we spent a couple of hours because of a delayed flight.
