On the way to Karimun
July 26, 2008
Yes! Finally my first real travelling. Travelling with a new group that Lukito (my co-workers) introduce. They are Putri,Anti,Andri,Ricci,Christine,Lukito and Peggy (will join us on semarang). We took train from jakarta to semarang. We left at 9pm from Station Gambir Jakarta. We took KA Angggrek, destination Jakarta to Surabaya (but we will stop at Semarang). The ticket cost around 200.000 IDR. It is executive train, with AC, comfy seats and they provide you pillow and blanket. Ooh don't forget to wear your jacket and socks coz it is sooo freezing!
We arrived at Station Tugu Tarawang, Semarang around 4am (yes in the morning). We were waiting for Peggy to join us. Than her train from Pekalongan came around 30 minutes later. The station is old building with Dutch style. Semarang is one of the old town with many influence from Dutch Colonization in Indoensia. We had breakfsat in nearby "warung" (small food stall) by the station. Hot team and noodle is really perfect breakfast menu. Than we crossed over the street.
There it was..like a river or dam surround with antique and stylish dutch buildings. It was about sunrise..so we didn't want miss the beautiful moments. Even we found an antique motrocyle. Let the pictures tell you details :D After freshen up (there is a clean restroom where you can have your shower nearby, better than in the station). We rent an angkot to take us to the pear (if you travel with big group of people, it's recommended to rent a nearby angkot,it cost around 50. 000 IDR). But before that we took quick around trip to the nearest site. The street was fulled with old style building, even there's a beautiful old church, old factory office building. As usual it's the kodak moments :D
Than we drove to the pear, Pelabuhan Tanjung Emas. Bought the tickets for ferry to take us to KarimunJawa. The boat called "Karimun Ocean Park". It took 4 hours from the pear of Semarang to Karimun Jawa. The ferry was packed, but the seats are okay (at least they were proper seats). Since it is fast ferry and the waves were huge, i got sea sickness. Thanks god there's antimo (a very famous indonesias pills for motion sickness).
We arrived at Karimun Jawa Pear around 1pm. Than Pak Joko (the local man who arranges our trip here and if you ever come to Karimun Jawa, don't forget to call him up, he will take good care of your stay here with reasonable price!!) picked us up and we took becak (please see the pic for details :D) to Wisma Karimun. It was only 15 minutes ride.
We checked into this small "wisma" (local house) with around 7 rooms available. Checked in and had lunch with fishes and fresh veggetables. Oooh I should introduce you to the new member of our group. He's Sebastian Booz from Switzerland or you can call him Sabby. Since he was travelling alone..we asked him to join our group. The more the merrier rite? :D
Around 02.30 we took a boat and went to Tanjung Islands. We went snorkling. The island was very beautiful with white sand, calm and very clear water. You can see beautiful corals and colourful fishes. We stayed there till sunset and head back to wisma.
We had dinner with rice (very tasty one with a coconut flavour) with grilled fishes (they were delecious and fresh). Than we hang out an had beers.
