A day to explore Nassau

Downtown Nassau. Shopping, rum, lots of tropical plants, the HUGE straw market. Kimberly and I decided to have a day out on the town with no plan or map. We were going to rent scooters, but all the stands within a walking distance from our resort were very shady and we got asked out to dates more than got offered scooters. So off we went in a cab! We started with a little walking in the shopping district, had a fantastic lunch at a greek restaurant, and then headed to the port to take a little guided cruise to Atlantis. Cruise is actually a reach. It was a leaky boat packed to the brim with tourists and a tour-guide who was missing some teeth.
Atlantis
Sounds bad, I know... but somehow it was not that bad. Actually, it was fun. The guide was full of fun facts and gossip about the celebrities who live on Paradise Island, and let's face it - if you can't swim, you should not get on a boat. I figured I can save at least my camera by strapping my bag on top of my head and froggie-stroking it to the shore.

As soon as you get off the boat, there is a frozen drink stand with the most tasty drinks. I had the mango daquiri and it was good. Maybe I just appreciated it more since I came so close to death on that raft - let's face it. Now that I'm off that abomination, it was a death trap!!!

Atlantis is as big, lavish, and excessive as you can imagine. Even the casino light-fixtures are decorated in the sea-motif. There are 21 restaurants, 19 bars, and even Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill! There is a restaurant where a whole wall is also an aquarium view of ruins of Atlantis that opens to the outside, so you get beautiful sunshine through the water. It's worth a google-search: it's called the Cafe at the Great Hall of Waters. Where else can you dine and see sharks lazily swim by? Next time in Nassau, I will dine here! Unfortunately, we had already had lunch in town, and had dinner plans with the group, so until next time, Atlantis!
