Sniff... last day! Why does time go so fast when you're on vacation? I had heard about this little restaurant, Conch Fritters, the oldest and most popular restaurant in Nassau, while talking to the locals on Friday. So I decided to head into town with Pat for one more taste of Nassau. We had a nice day walking around and exploring the few shops I didn't get to with Kimberly. The town is really very charming with all the cheery colors and fun plants. The street life is very vibrant because all the locals wear tropical shirts and us tourists try to match. Of course we had some rum tastings at the many rum shops, tried every kind from dark to light and gold, from banana to mango and even one that was so hot it burned your throat.
CHEERS! It's been a good trip!
We ate rum cakes (yummy!!!) in all flavors imaginable, and finally decided on a few different bottles of rum to bring back home.

Conch Fritters was good. The ambiance very island-like, and service great. We did have the conch fritters, which were delicious. They had more conch in the fritters than any of the other conch fritters we had had on this trip. Conch fritters are served with a delicious thousand-island-type dressing, and I am still looking for a restaurant in Atlanta that can come close to the Bahamian version of the original conch fritters. My main dish, the jerk chicken, was a little spicy and a little sweet, just like a real jerk should be. Plantains were sweet and juicy. I do like the Island food!

With a pina colada (for me), and a Kalik light (for Pat), we raised our drinks to another great trip and another wonderful experience. I can't wait until I get to come back to Nassau! Now it's time to exit the time warp called vacation and appear at your house again and wonder how did the last 5 days manage to go so damn fast.
