Stemnitsa
Early this morning, the kids left for the airport (at 5:30am I think). I slept a little later, then got breakfast at Grigoris with Joan. We got ourselves together, checked out of the hotel, took the train to Eleftherios Venizelos, and rented an automatic car, a silver Hyundai Accent which I named "Argyris." We drove on the Attiki Odos and the other highways into Tripoli, then north through Levidi, Vytina, and Dimitsana to Stemnitsa. We had a really enormous dinner and dessert and checked in (or rather, walked into) our "room" which was more like a hovel. It didn't have a bathroom, but it did have heat. The bathroom was a short walk outdoors across the courtyard to a dirty little shed with the necessary appliances but no comforts and lots and lots of cobwebs. Joan went to sleep and I went to Katafygio for a drink and then back to the room.
