The water fall of Sagada

The small mountain town of Sagada has got the label of an old hippy hangout for some reason. Which actually only means there are a lot of cheap hotels in the town and several cheap places to eat. And the plus side is you won't find a Best Western or any other major western hotel.

The attraction of the town is the cool climate which makes it a perfect getaway from the steaming hot summers in the Philippines. But this is not the summer time. It is the monsoon season. Which means lots and lots of clouds all over the place. And it is cold. I just woke up this morning freezing because the hotel had cut its investment in decent blankets and only supplied a really thin one.

After I get out of bed shivering I put on all of my warmest cloth. Ok I put on my second warmest pair of pants given the warmest pair got changed into a strange biological/chemical experiment after I tried to decent from the mummy cave in Kabayan and I have not gotten them washed since that. I go out to see all the fabulous sights of Sagada - and truthfully - they are not all that great.

I had planed to spend several days here - but after walking through some rice field to go to a tiny waterfall I decide it is time to leave. It is too cold and it looks like rain. I want to get out of here now. And I really don't care about the hanging coffins they got somewhere after seeing the coffins and mummies of Kabayan. Hence I will get out of here on the first jeepney to Bontoc.

And when I get to the jeepney it is full of foreigner. Sure this town is a somewhat overrated tourist trap in my opinion without that much to offer. I know you may argue I giving it a morning is not really giving the place a change - but then again if it can not convince me to stay in that amount of time it is not worth wasting time hanging around.
