Pussers Restaurant on Marina Cay
After our fill of snorkeling at Diamond Reef, Breakaway headed a short distance to Marina Cay, a small island nearby that is known for its Pussers Store and Restaurant. The boat pulled onto the dock, and we walked a short distance to the restaurant, where our lunch orders had already been radioed in by the boat crew. This island is the kind of place where you would half expect to see Jimmy Buffet in a Hawaiian shirt, strumming his guitar in a hammock! The clear water and soft white sand was typical of the areas beauty. We all had a chance for a restroom break before they brought our food out. The restaurant was open, in a sense that there was a roof, but no windows. Tyler and I sat against the rail, and shared a few french fries with the seabirds that were flitting about.
The food was pretty good, especially after the appetite we had all worked up while snorkeling! We all got to enjoy a good meal, then had a little time to explore the beach/island/store. We spent about an hour there, then the boat crew alerted us that it was time to head back to the boat. On the dock, near where the refuel the boats, there was a red phone booth. A sign on the wall said there was a camera pointed at the phone booth, and it took a photo every 15 seconds. If you stood there, and noted the date and time, you could go online at a later date and look up the picture! I never saw mine, though...I didn't think to check on it until after it expired. Apparently, the photos stay online for a limited time only. Oh, well! No big deal! I took plenty of good pics on my own! The group boarded Breakaway again, and in no time we were off to our next stop.... The Soggy Dollar Bar on the island of Jost Van Dyke!
