Arriving in St Thomas

We landed, debarked and collected our baggage uneventfully.  I called my sister Laura to let her know we arrived,  she works at The Frenchmans Reef Marriot as an events coordinator.  She left work to come meet us and lead us back to her hotel.  I had reserved a Jeep Liberty for the week from Discount Car Rental, and I called them next to come pick us up.  We only waited about 15 minutes, before they both arrived.  Laura followed us back to the rental place, and after some paperwork we were on our way!  I chose Discount Car Rental because they allow you to take their vehicles to St John... many car rental places in St Thomas do not allow this, so if going to St John, be sure to check on this beforehand!  4 Wheel drive is strongly recommended.  You can rent one on St John,  but it is much more expensive, and they don't allow their cars to go to St Thomas!   It was cheaper to rent the Jeep in St Thomas, even paying for the car ferry to get it over to St John.   We followed Laura back to the Marriot, but we had to stop at the police station along the way.  Laura had to pay a ticket she got on the way out to meet us, because she was talking on her cell phone while driving!
