On 17th of September I met Susan (sweetlovercat85) from San Borja, Lima. After meeting in Miraflores and thinking about what we could do we decided to head for the district of San Miguel to go to the Parque de las Leyendas, Lima´s main zoo.
In the park you can see species from around the world but most of all from the three different natural regions of Peru: la costa, la sierra y la selva (the coastal, mountain and jungle region). Parque de las Leyendas is not the best zoo I´ve ever been to but it is a nice place to see some native species and to go for a walk and have a chat. Susan and I talked about Arequipa and Cuzco because that´s where I will be heading next, we talked about Germany since she´s planning to go there next year, and we talked about Americans which we not encountered in the zoo but have both stumbled upon on previous travels and therefore we shared a similar opinion about them :-) Susan also told me about a guy she knows who is totally crazy about animals, especially cats but in some sort of weird sexual way.
Well, we didn´t see any molested cats in the zoo but instead we saw some llamas, various native birds, oversized teddy bears, many many monkeys, parrots, zebras and furiously roaring lions. Unfortunately the giraffes seemed to be sleeping as we didn´t see any of them outside. Susan, however, had a different theory and thought they all died :-)
After seeing various animals eating big chunks of food we were sort of hungry as well, so Susan suggested we could go to La Punta. At first I was a bit apprehensive because it is close to Callao which is often said to be a bit dangerous but Susan assured me that it´s very safe in La Punta, so we went there. When we got there the wind was very strong so after walking around for a bit and freezing a lot we went inside a restaurant.
While eating we talked for a bit more and listened to German songs on her mobile phone, lol. Then we took a taxi back to the city and went our separate ways.
Thank you Susan for the nice afternoon!!!
