the thai way

the last two days, despite the on and off pissing rain, have been glorious. i must say that thais, from my experience, are the most hospitable people i've been so fortunate to interact with. and i don't mean hospitable in a wait on you had and foot kind of way - i mean in a way that makes you feel as if you're an old buddy crashing in their spare bedroom and you're kicking them some money for rent. people smile here so genuinely, speak with such familiarity - if not familiarity of the traveler, but of the way that thailand makes them feel. it is a magical, magical country. i feel like i'm on, like chapter four of a book that will take me a lifetime to read - and i know each page will contain some pearl of wisdom...some quote i will draw upon for years to come. yesterday and today have been filled with banana curry and fairy tale waterfalls and swimming holes with rope swings and ocean dips and open air showers and getting caught in monsoon-ish rains while motoscooting down windy, hilly, slippery roads and being fed like family by locals we joined on stage last night at a bar-slash-house-slash-djembe 'factory' 12 footsteps from the ocean.
ayyy-ah. six days to go and i'm already having seperation anxiety. maybe i should just move to friggin thailand.
