Visiting John & Lynne

So while I was in Natal, waiting to meet Lihi again, I got on the internet to catch up on a few mails. I ended up chatting to my friend Lizzie up in Canada and told her how I would come visit after the Amazon, after all, I was in the "Americas" wasn't I, how far could it be??
Well, a 6 day boat journey, a treacherous trek through the amazon and a rediculousy long flight with a stop over in Brasilia & Sao Paulo later I landed in Ontario. Now along my travels I have come across many systems of judging a country. Food is an easy one as is alcohol but I have come up with more interesting ones. Now not that I endorse this sort of behaviour but the quality of hooker or stripper in a country appears to directly correalate to the quality of the city.
Essex = trashy hookers
New York, Rio, Barcelona, Ontario, Bruge = hot hookers
Case and point.
Here I was collected by John, Lizzie's father and he drove me back to his wonderful house where I met his wonderful partner Lynn again. I had not seen the two of them in a few years since they last visited Dublin. Lynn was amazing, not only had she made me up a gigantic bed but she took all the dirty washing out of my bag and then washed & ironed them for me. Since I left home I have not had such clean clothes.
Their hospitality was only rivaled by the beauty of their home. John moved here from Dublin and the house prices would appear to have been a factor.
Together myself and John set about walking his forest and clearing a little to make a trail through it. There was a clearing at one point and I turned to John thinking that I could have saved myself money and just camped out there instead of the Amazon!
Toronto is such a beautiful city. Yes its big. Its really big. At the same time it has the homely feel of a small town. This is in part to the size of the Canadian population. Although it is one of the biggest countries in the world they only have 30 odd million people. Unlike Sao Paulo which has more than that by itself.
Over dinner I asked John about the easiest way to get o Danny & Lizzie's house as they live with their mother. He said that i should fly. Hmmm. I did not know that Halifax and Toronto where almost a 3or 4 hour flight apart. I was expecting to bus back and forth. Ooops.
The next day I booked my flights and then set about seeing all that Toronto had to offer. It is such a beautiful city. The underground is amazing. It is built to deal with the bitter cold winters so you are able to walk from station to station. There is essentially two cities in Toronto, one overground and one underground.
