Day 2: April 28th 08

I had my friend, Ketut, to pick us up at our hotel and show us around. Ketut has been the one I used to call if I’m in Bali. He’s an easy going friend, funny, and very helpful. He recommended us to go to Ubud for a quick ‘training’ on Balinese art. Ubud is a well known place in Bali for its art and culture, it has beautiful green padding field as the surrounding.

From Legian to Ubud, we drop by to celuk to see silver handicraft. Just a quick looked, not buying anything…to expensive for me hihihi:D

Then we moved to see the Balinese Batik.

Traditional woven
As you all know (or perhaps you don’t know?) Indonesia is famous for its Batik, a handwriting technique in a piece of fabric. And Bali has its own style in Batik.

I could see how those batik were made, it was very detail and beautiful.

Then we went to Ubud to see how they made wooden craft. Ketut took us to a place, a home of the famous Bali wooden craft artist that I have no idea who’s that man, all I know he made amazing arts and his arts were all over the place in all over the world. We didn’t meet the artist but we went to his studio right by the street and talked to his staffs. They were soo nice, they even let me tried to do some crafting which I can’t do, I guess I don’t have the talent to be a wooden craft artist:p

After we had our art tour, we went to monkey forest in Padang Tegal. Bali has some several monkey forests.

Behind the woven strings
Every monkey forest has temple at least one. And the most famous monkey forest in Bali is in Sangeh, but according to Ketut, Sangeh has the most naughty monkeys ever! Yeah I trust him...

We got a little afraid at the beginning, we beg Ketut to walk with us and never leave us behind! Yea…yea…yea…I’m afraid of monkeys, but only because they like to steal our stuff. And It’s true! My bag were bitten by this lil rascal. The monkey saw a red thing in my bag and it just jumped and bite my bag! I scream until the guard kicked that monkey away. The monkey thought that red thing was food!(It actually my pen) No wonder…

Please note! You better leave your bag or don’t wear any see through bag, the monkey will know if you hide any food.

Then before we’re heading back to Legian, we went to Tanah Lot to see sunset. Enjoying the beautiful view and took some picture here and there. Besides temple in the middle of the ocean, in Tanah Lot there’s also a cave full of snake. We didn’t enter that cave cause it’s already dawn.
