Day 3: April 29th 08
Cause we want to know more about Balinese people, so this day we went to Ketut’s village in Singaraja. Singaraja is in the north of Bali, many people in Singaraja work as fisherman and farmer. The funny thing about people in Bali, its culture let the wife/women to work and the husband/men to stay at home looking after their kids and cleaning their house. And Bali men have the habit to gambling on chicken fight. It’s illegal but they still do it, they said it’s hard to change our habit, it’s in our blood. That’s why every family in Bali traditional village has rooster.
We also went to Sayan Terrace, a view point near Singaraja where we could see rice padding field.
Very beautiful, I imagine having a house and spend my retirement life here. I admit beach it’s not the only beautiful view in this worldJ
To Ketut's family temple
The trip continued to Kintamani. We had lunch in one of the restaurant by the hill where we could see the beautiful view of mount and lake Batur. The mist blocked the sunrays and made that day cool and refresh.
In the other side of Lake Batur, there’s a traditional Balinese village called Trunyan. The people in Trunyan has traditional ceremony for the dying one, not by burning their dead body like any other Balinese people, but they mummification by keeping it in a cave, same like they do in Ternate-Sulawesi.
It’s an interesting to know and see, but to go to Trunyan, you must escort by the trusted local people. They have the habit to ask for your stuff and money. Trunyan people live in a poor and simple life. They believe it’s their karma to ask guest for food, stuff, and money. Indonesian people live by their belief, whether its ancestor, traditional, or religion belief.
After we had lunch in Kintamani, then we go to Tirta Empul temple. Many Hindunese from all over the country come to Tirta Empul, cause this place has 13 showers and every shower believes it could cure problem or sickness. I remember the 1st shower is for curing severe headache and the 2nd is for curing bad dream. The weird
thing was, after I took some picture of those showers, specially the 1st one, suddenly I got a headache! I don’t
know if this coincidence or bad luck, but my head was soo sick that I could barely walk. After 2 or 3 hours later, I vomit and couldn’t do anything except lying in bed. Thank god I have friends that’s so nice and willing to take care of me…thanks girls, I love you soo much! For me, a sudden headache was pretty weird. I don’t know which one should I trust, it just a coincidence or I just got a bad luck, cause you know there’s soo many rules in Bali that you have to obey, if you break one of those rules, you’ll get a karma. Well in my case, I don’t remember breaking any rules… well, anyway…cause of my severe headache, with hard hearted, I had to change my next day plan to go and dive in MenjanganL
