can I become one???
The original plan was supposed to take a nap during the flight and try to recover
energies before landing in Detroit
and meeting Eric, but… I can’t help talking to people, :P I was tired, the plane was small and the man sit next to
me, didn’t seem to be the coolest person in the planet. But anyway I ended
talking with him and guess what, he’s a great person! One of my passions (maybe
the biggest) is traveling and he has been living in different countries during
almost his whole life. He was telling me about all the cities and countries he
visited, wow! But he’s still missing Peru, hehehe. So, I was able to
teach him something new about the world too, hehe.
So, no chances to sleep at all.
After a short flight we arrived
to MI – Detroit.
I was so excited, that I forgot to say good bye to this man, :( I talked to
Eric while I was in NJ and we agreed to meet at the baggage claim. He would
pick me up from DTW, although is far away from our final destination. I left
the plane asap and went to the baggage claim area, but I guess I did to soon, since
I arrived to the baggage claim area before than Eric who wanted to surprise me
with a shield with my name… so sweet!!! :)
who is Yadira??? hahaha
After a big hug, it was time to drive to the farm, yeah! The
city girl would pretend to be a farm girl for the next weekend, haha. There was
a TB couple from Montreal
who was supposed to come to the farm too, but they cancelled at last minute –
family issues - :( We went to the parking area and I met Bessie (Eric’s jeep).
I have seen her in KC, but didn’t know she was a she and has a name, haha. Actually
she has 2 names: Bessie when she’s a city girl and Gretchen when she’s off-road,
haha. And this boy calls me crazy, hehehe.
He told me a long drive was waiting for us. I thought he
was exaggerating, but when I saw 4 bottles of water and other stuff, I realized
he wasn’t kidding. By the way, I guess he was a bit surprised with the size of
my bag for just 5 days, hehe. We started our way to the farm. The day was so
nice, sunny and warm. Maybe to warm I was just thinking about changing my jeans
for shorts, haha. I felt so happy about meeting Eric in MI. It was so cool!!! First
thing I told him was: I made it!!!! His answer was: “crazy girl!!!” He really
loves his hometown. He was telling me all about the area, rivers, lakes,
surroundings. The landscapes were so beautiful.
Everything was green and full
of life. He just told me: “Remember how everything look right now, so you can
compare it to the way it would look in the cold November” oh!!!!
getting the cherries for the little Peruvian girl, haha
Eric told me once, they are very proud of their cherries
and since I don’t eat fresh cherries at home. He stopped in one of the numerous
stands of fresh washed cherries along the road, in order to get fresh cherries.
They were so tasty! Not too sweet, but not to sour either. Juicy and fresh!
Perfect for the hot weather. I had my 1st lesson and it was time for
the 2nd one: “To spit the seeds” haha.
Yeah!!! I was having a great time. What about me being
tired??? I forgot about that completely, haha.
