Stuck Between Hard Rock And A Park
So here's the deal. We're going to be in Myrtle Beach, SC for a week of fun, sun, beach and rock. Rock, you say? That would be Hard Rock Park, the newly opened Rock n'Roll theme park. What's HRP got that other amusement parks don't? Well, a lot, but Led Zeppelin will have to wait, cause Myrtle Beach vacations don't come cheap, and we're still in the planning stages. Gotta go through all the Myrtle Beach hotels, check out the package deals and stuff, and work out a list of things to do in Myrtle Beach. Most importantly, need to follow aforementioned plan, which is the hardest part.
Anyway, considering that we didn't have the foresight to buy a ton of Google stock options, we're going to have to look at family friendly budget accomodations. Which basically means a suite with connecting rooms, one King bed, two twins, a kitchen, television, pool for teh kids and nothing much else. The math is pretty simple. When you have a family, you give up on the little luxuries like 300 count linens and designer bath products and full size vanity mirrors and tubs and jacuzzis in marble bathrooms inside a room with a private balcony with a great view of the ocean. In case you got lost somewhere in there, what I'm saying is that you gotta give up all this in exchange for cheap family accomodations.
Way it works is, your kids want the same things that rich spolied brats do - Which is summer vacations in the best destinations, like Disney World and DisneyLand and Legoland. And Hard Rock Park. So, you need to give up a little bit of what you want out of the vacation, which is luxury and dining in swanky restaurants and shopping and stuff.
I'll keep you updated on this broke-ass family vacation in Myrtle Beach. Rough outline is pretty clear. Vacation on the Grand Strand. Let the kids enjoy Hard Rock Park and the beaches. Do some shopping, a little bit of theater and a couple of dinner shows, laze around on the beaches in the day. Maybe take a cruise. Some scuba diving and 'aquatic' stuff. Nothing very fancy, and certainly not costly.
