It was the Friday and finally the Madrid Meet-Up had arrived. The trekking part of our trip was over, now it was just time to party in Madrid. We got up and got some groceries.. Lori was dying to make her Kraft dinner! She'd been going on about it the whole trip and it was time to put it to the test!! So we cooked up some pasta and I shared Lori pasta. It wasn't bad, but I prefer my past with some vegies!
At 3pm we were to take the metro down to Puerto del Sol to meet up with our Madrid guide, Tirso, at the bear statue. When we got there we met up with him and he took us on a guided walk around the area to show us Madrid. We stopped at many bars along the way, either drinking beer or Sangria. It was a pleasant afternoon, strolling around Madrid, the sun hot and the city devoid of any fresh, sea air.
After meeting up with the other TBs we went to another bar in the Sol square where Cam, who we'd never met before, shouted us Sangria and tappas, cheers Cam!! Lori and I enjoyed annoying Bondy who gave in when we asked him to buy us roses from some man tralling the bars selling them! We hung out at the bar for awhile before catching the metro out to the party!
When we got there at about 11pm there were quite a few people there, a nibbles table, a pool (we'd been told to bring bathers!) a bouncey castle!! and a table full of booze!!! Looked alright =D We found a corner of the yard where there were seats and a table and claimed that so we could set our stuff down.
Sitting around nursing my injury, at some stage someone jumped in the pool. Think it was Cam (typical aussie!!) That was when Lori demanded we all get in. I wasn't that keen but Lori pretty much stripped and redressed me and we jumped into the pool together!! CRAP!! It was freezing and I declared my hatred for Lori loudly, until 5 minutes later I'd either acclimatized or gone completely numb.
Lauro, Steph, Alex and Dave left soon after and we hung around til about 2am, when we realised that nmingling wasn't successfull when no one spoke much English and it was starting to get cold. We had to wait for Bondy to sober up some as he was smashed, semi conscious and chatting to himself or invisible beings. Then Kat copped a blow to the head on the castle and we had to wait for her to recover from her concussion.
