The next morning it took awhile for us to all get going. I could sense that Ben was awake and bored and was being polite by letting us snooze a little longer. In my morning stupor I thought, 'wouldn't it be funny if he just turned the engine on and drove around the park with us to wake us all up!' I was half hoping/expecting him to do so. Except then I realised all our grocery bag were on the roof. Alex soon woke up and started annoying me. Soon we were all up, showering etc and getting ready to leave. We were off to check out the capitol of Portugal, Lisbon.
On the road and we had a few hours to get there. I swear that day we listened to one album.. dont even know who it is! about 5 times over.
Finally we got into the city centre, thanks to Bens cool and calm driving. We parked up and started wandering down towards the old town of Lisbon where the streets were bustling, the weather was hot and I was starving hungry. It was about 1pm and I hadn't eaten all day, so was starting to get a headache and feel a bit sick. Needed food! We wandered round, down a green strip which was dotted with many statues and monuments, looking up at the castle on the hill and eventually split off to find food - there was no way I was following the bulk to Maccas.. how they were still eating it, I dunno! Haha. After a nice healthy salad sub, we bought a gift for Pablo's family then caught the metro back up to the top of the town as we'd walked quite a distance. Lisbon is a beautiful city but we just didn't have enough time and we still needed to head south to make it to the Algarve and find a place to camp for the night. It was looking a little unrealistic.
We all piled back into the car, and I think all feeling a bit dubious, set off, over the bridge which is guarded by a giant statue of Christ and on our way to the Algarve.
