October 2006 brought the most amazing weather to the Austrian mountains. Hiking in shorts and short sleeves.

With a group of around 60 friend from the camping site in Belgium, we went with a bus to Schoppernau. Breakfast and lunch were taken underway. We were lodging in the Hirschen Hotel. A very nice hotel with sauna and indoor pool facilities. Diner was also enjoyed there with live music the last evening.
The whole trip was planned around walking several routes in the region. Lunch was usually taken halfway the walk in a mountain hut. One afternoon we had to catch our own lunch from the pond. Quite fun.
The weather troughout the trip was excellent. The hikes were beautiful with a traditional last walk to the Kristall Hutte. A steep long climb but most rewarding as the lunch up there with Schnapps is mind boggling, especially with that weather.
The die hards walked all the way back to the hotel while the rest could join the bus at the starting point.
The departure day brought fog into the valley but we couldn't care less as we had a great week, which one could feel pretty well in the legs.
