Tikal
December 16, 2008
Well I just left El Remate, Mom and Jeff. I am on my way to Coban to meet a couple of friends. We are all headed to Semuc Champey tomorrow. I had an absolute fabulous time in Tikal! It was everything I was expecting. The only thing I could complain about is not seeing a toucan and not seeing a cougar. But I was able to watch monkeys play and see one of the best if no the best ruin site in the world. We stayed in a great place with hot showers and a great view of the lake. We went on an early morning tour of tikal. We arrived there at around 6:30 am and spent about 3 hours with a guide who showed us around the major pyramids and then set us free at around 9:30. Unfortunately in the morning it was really foggy and misty. Early the views were less than desirable and it was raining a bit. As soon as he let us go it was clearing up and the sun was coming out. We walked around the rest of the day and went searching for more animals and other uncovered ruins. There is almost 50% that is not excavated yet. Most all the major pyramids are uncovered but I am curious to come back in 10-20-or 30 years and see what else they have uncovered.
It was great seeing Mom and Jeff. Thank you 2 for coming down here. It was great seeing family, especially before x-mas. By the way if anyone wants to know what I want for x-mas… $ for my trip since I cant receive anything. Just sent it to mom J.
