I met 2 girls at work on their first day, they had just gotten back from a 3 month trip to Central America and from the sounds of it one hell of a life experience. This was January of 2004. Since then, I wanted to make this trip happen but I was not sure how and if I would ever pull it off. I finished paying off most all of my school debt and have been saving specifically for this trip for about a year.
Now I am ready to start making real plans and figure out where I will be actually heading. I bought my plane ticket; I am flying to Guatemala City on October 15th. I will be sending just a couple of days in Guatemala City before I head to Quetzaltenango. That is where I will be starting to take classes. I will be traveling after I get 6-8 weeks of school under my belt. I will spend approximately 4 months traveling and going to classes in Central America.
Then it is on to Carnival in Rio. Carnival this year is from Feb 20-24th. I want to go for at least 1 week. After that my plans get a little more unknown. I figure the rest of the trip I will play by ear and go where I feel like. I know I want to kind of circle the continent. So south from Brazil to Argentina and then Chile – Bolivia – Peru – Ecuador no idea how long this will take or how long my $ will last me. But I am hoping to travel for another 4 months after I am done with Central America. So a total of 8 months.
