Breakfast, Broadway on the Beach and to bed.
17 July 2008
Woke up before most everyone else as usual and went down stairs to start breakfast. I found some more left over baked potatoes in the refrigerator, so I started cutting and frying those up, then I started the bacon and sausage. My mom came down stairs and said I didn’t have to make breakfast for everyone again since I already did it earlier in the week. But I enjoy it and even though cooking for 17 people is a challenge, it’s fun for me to see it all come together and every one enjoying what I have made. So, since we had a lot of eggs still in the refrigerator, and lots of bread, I decided to make what the Swedish call fattiga riddare, or as we American’s like to call it, French Toast. You know, mix up a bunch of eggs, add some milk and a touch of vanilla, mix it all up real good, then dip bread in it quickly on both sides then place the bread on a griddle or frying pan with some real butter until both sides are golden brown.
Yummy!! I think I used almost two loaves of bread and I don’t know how many eggs, but it was Thursday and we needed to start eating the food we had, because after today, we only had one more full day here. After breakfast, most of us went to the beach for the first half of the day. There was a storm way off shore, which we couldn’t even see, and the waves were very nice for surfing and boogie boarding! Around 12:00 noon, we all went back to the house for lunch and to get ready for our journey to Broadway at the Beach. We were going to attempt to get into Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville for dinner, so we decided to all meet up around 4:00 pm in front of Margaritaville knowing we would have to wait to get a table for all of us. But, when we got there, they told us it would be at least four hours before we would get seated, and most of us didn’t want to wait that long! So we all decided to just go out on our own and do want we wanted for the rest of the day and maybe try again tomorrow.
We did sit at the tables outside and have a few drinks and some appetizers, but it was hot and I needed to get out of the heat.Mike, Courtnie,
After some walking around, we decided to go to the Aquarium, if for nothing else, to get out of the heat for a while.
May be it was just me, but I was not feeling well and needed some time out of the sun. The aquarium was ok, but I’m use to the National Aquarium inOnce home, we got something to eat which I even don’t remember what it was, and just hung out watching a movie on TV. Maybe it was too much heat today, but I had a headach and was not feeling well, so decided to call it a night early. Tomorrow is our last full day here.
