NOW our adventure truly begins up in the CLOUD FOREST of Monteverde!  We are on our way to the town of Santa Elena which has a Cloud Forest Reserve! Is there anyone asking what is a cloud forest?

Well it is: "A cloud forest is a highland forest characterized by nearly 100%
humidity throughout the year. Here in the Reserve Santa Elena of
Monteverde, warm North-Easterly trade winds, filled with moisture, blow
in over the Atlantic. As the winds sweep up to the Continental divide,
they cool and condense to form clouds, bathing the forest in a constant
soft mist. The cloud forest here receives an incredible four meters of
rain every year- that is almost twelve feet."  (www.monteverdeinfo.com/reserve.htm)

Our form of transportation is, Jeep - Boat - Jeep, a very interesting drive thru local dirt roads! There was a caravan of jeeps but in actuality they were small minivans. At one point along the drive, the drivers had to quickly maintain the road while the tourists walked up the hill, the load was to heavy, the road to steep and the road in to poor condition!  Never know what will occur while travelling! Again the views along our drive excellent, rolling hills with a vast of green everywhere!

On arrival we found lodging and food.  The town is small and easy to navigate about! The main street has everything you need! Most importantly the tour guide office! They can help you with everything and anything!  We will be in the area for 4 days! We took walks in the Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve and had a wonderful guide! My girlfriends certainly liked his abundant knowledge and looks! We also did the Canopy Tour! That was the most memorable experience, flying thru the air on cables - WoW! We used a company called SelvaTura and really enjoyed the experience! (The tour includes 15 cables and 18 viewing platforms traversing over 2
miles of forest, combining the thrill of the zip line with a unique
perspective of the tree top canopy.)

I recommend this area to anyone who is planning a trip! So many diverse things to do! We had difficulties deciding, almost to many ideas! But we mangaged to decide and took with us many great experiences!
