I left the research of the area up to my parents, since I was going to be planning the entirety of my trip before they arrived, so I wasn't really sure what was in Northen Ireland. I didn't think there would be anything to match the beauty of southern Ireland. So, I was only mildly interested to see what this "Giant's Causeway" and "Carrick-A-Rede Rope Bridge." I knew they had to be special, but I didn't think they'd be of the Cliffs of Moher caliber.
I was so very wrong. And probably one of the few times in my life I was happy to admit it. =)
Northern Ireland was simply beautiful. My eyes must have been popping out of my head, because everywhere I looked was stunning. From the tiny town of Portrush, where we boarded the Crawler bus that would take us to Giant's and the rope bridge, to the coastline to the actual sites themselves, I was just astounded that such beauty exists on this earth.
On a side note, it was really quite twilight zone to have my brother be frequently lost in the crowd- he's a redhead, of the bright orange variety, and being Hispanic and living in the Rio Grande Valley, he always sticks out (my hair color is a rather controversial topic, some say I'm redheaded as well, but others vehemently disagree). For probably the first time ever, there were so many other redheads that we couldn't use that as the vantage point for scanning the crowd for him. It really was just pretty funny. =)
