Binky's Birthday in Bangkok

The reason why Binky and I went to Bangkok was to celebrate her 31st Birthday. But we planned it months ahead with other friends until one by one they decided to not go. So the ones left were me, Binky and Jen. But Jen, being an editor-in-chief of one of the magazines here in Manila, had to beat some deadlines, hence she moved her flight that will make her touch down Bangkok on the eve of Binky's birthday.

It was september 27 and the whole morning i was just in bed. For some reason, my back hurt so bad I had difficulty standing up. So binky went to explore the nearby areas by herself. By lunch time, I was feeling better. I had to. So i decided to take some shots of Wat Benchamabophit and some street scenes.

Before dinner I got a text message from her saying that Jen was crying on the phone and won't be able to make it. I wondered why. So I rushed to Black Canyon Coffee at the Platinum and the story went like this:

All excited, Jen went to the airport. Finally she will be able to join us! But while paying her travel tax, the agent noticed that her passport was expired (8 months prior to our flight). In fact her flight was booked and rebooked without her knowing that it was expired. I can't blame her though since she was too busy to even check (it was only last month that she had the guts to even look at our pics... without her in it). Poor woman. Sad.

Anyway, that part of the night was a total let down. So we just decided to go back to the hotel. We had nothing to do.
Tired at The Grand Place
We didn't feel like doing anything. We were just too disappointed. Lucky for me, a friend whom I met on flickr invited me out to Shamrock, along Khao San. I forced Binky to come join me, i couldn't let her spend the eve of her birthday alone.

So when we arrived at Khao San, I thought it would only be Mark who was there. Apparently, he had with him a bunch of other filipinos working in Bangkok...and most are also from flickr. We got to meet Candy and her band (who were playing that night) and they were so cool. Everyone was dancing and having fun. The most memorable part of the night was when the whole bar started to sing Binky, the Birthday Song. And it was really funny because a room full of people were singing her that song and she didn't know anyone at all - I have to admit I missed the half of the song because I was at the little boy's room doing my thing.

Once I heard the song playing I hurried back to her side and sang along with everyone. I think we wrapped up around 2 AM, and although Jen wasn't around, I think the experience made up for that at least.

The following day, I took Binky out to explore the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew. Again, it was a hot humid day and we were so tired already in the mid afternoon that we decided to do Wat Arun and Vimanmek for another day.

In the evening Binky's officemate, Pam arrived at our hotel. She was also in town to celebrate her birthday with us. We went out for the night, this time around at Silom Soi 4 where we had light dinner at The Balcony. While having dinner, we had two things in mind that we should do - watch a girly show or watch a big cock show. ha! But we were undecided about it until we saw the famous "Super P****Y" along Patpong.
Khao San
I've always been curious about the place, but never really had the guts to go in before. But since it was someone's birthday, might as well do something non-wholesome. Anyway, to cut the long story short. I never drank beer that fast in my life. I think i finished one beer in less than 10 seconds. How could I not, when them prostitutes were hounding me like hyenas. They really were like hyena's with their eyes and teeth glowing under the blue light. And the things that they could do, wow... amazingly gross! haha! Although it was quite a fun and thrilling experience, I will never go back to that place again.
