elephantastic!
After 5 years, i finally went back to Ayuthaya, and guess what I got lost! haha! Well, the last time I went there, I had no problem. But this time around, looking for the bus station to Ayuthaya was quite the challenge already. I guess it was over confidence that did me! haha!

Anyway, It was my and Binky's first stop on this trip. We only had a bath in our pockets when we went there since we left early, even before the money changers opened. So upon arriving we had to search for money change. I think that took us about an hour to accomplish. Add another 30 minutes of searching for the Bike rentals... which we failed to find, therefore we had to tuktuk it to the ancient ruins. It was a good thing that the temple complex(es)? were just walking distance from each other.

Before lunch we managed to get ourselves into Wat Phra Mongkol Bophit, Wat Phra Si Sanphet, and Wat Phra Ram. We so much wanted to ride the elephants, but decided not to when on our way out of Wat Phra Ram, there was this elephant who was running fast while the Korean tourist riding it was scared shit! Good thing the handler was able to make the animal stop, everyone ended up laughing hard.

Since it was lunch time already, Siam Restaurant which is just across Wat mahatat. Aircon was heaven! Cold Coca-Cola, more heavenly! Damn it was so hot outside and as usual, Binky and I decided to linger at the al fresco and smoke our lungs to death while we wait for some clouds to cover the sun a bit. After that, we went on to Wat Mahatat and took more pics! It was nice to see the Buddha head again.

Earlier in the day, we saw the sign that said something about Ayuthaya's reclining buddha being in that spot. So from Mahatat we had to walk all the way there... damn stupid sign... there was no reclining buddha there! I consulted my guide book and the reclining buddha is at Wat Yai Chaimongkon (on the other side of town). We ended up at Wat Thammikarat for crying out loud! haha! A lot of Wats really gets one so confused!

Anyway, I just had to really see Wat Yai Chaimongkon. Since I have seen all the other wats before, I had to see something new! I wanted to see all those buddhas with saffron robes. We hired us a tuktuk to take us there. I think it was worth it! i love that wat!

Again, i missed on Bang Pa-in palace, but I guess that gives me a reason to go back to Ayuthaya. Well, maybe next year... and probably spend one night there. I'd love to see it at night.
