This morning we flew to Los Angeles for our Spring Break vacation. We'd never been there so we thought we might it be fun.
Then, we went to the La Brea tar pits. It was very interesting walking through and seeing skeletons of mammoths, saber tooth cats, amongst prehistoric creatures.
When we were done, we took a leisurely drive down Sunset Boulevard ... through Beverly Hills to Hollywood Boulevard. (We saw Rodeo Drive and the Hollywood Sign along the way.)
We walked many of the stars, saw Grauman's Chinese Theatre, the Kodak Theater, and the foot/hand prints of celebrities. (There sure were a lot of homeless people there. L) There were people dressed up as movie characters. We ate lunch at Shelly’s Cafe(where they filmed Maggie Fitzgerald (Hilary Swank) working in a diner and Frankie Dunn (Clint Eastwood) ate in the movie “Million Dollar Baby”). I had a Hawaiian Burger - yum!! Then, we finished our walk and drove down Mulholland!
Very pretty drive - we could see the Hollywood Bowl. Someone said Maury Povich lived up there. When we finished that drive we drove down Highway 1 to Santa Monica Pier - I put my hand in the Pacific Ocean. It was COLD! About 2 miles before we got there, we saw Venice Beach.
We drove back to Hermosa Beach and ate dinner at Hibachi Teriyaki Grill. I ate Mahi Mahi, brown rice, and a salad as well as Teriyaki pork strips! Yum! It was voted “Best Newcomer” by local customers. They gave us almond cookies. Gary wanted more for dessert, so we ate Tiramisu at Italy's Little Kitchen.
We went to bed and slept for 10 hours. We’d been up since 3am CST, so by 12am CST we were exhausted.
