Day 7 - Garden of the Gods

Today is Sunny
We ate a continental breakfast at the motel.
Sara stayed at the vet/boarder in Colorado Springs.
Gary and I went to Academy Riding Stables where we went on a 2-hour guiding leisure trail ride through the Garden of the Gods. It was great! We spotted rabbits, squirrels, and deer. My horses name was River and Gary’s was Durango.
We had lunch at the Garden of the Gods Trading Post (buffalo burgers and fries) and shopped.
Then we walked around Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site and had birch beer. We learned about the American Indian Area, the 1860s Galloway Homestead, the 1880s Chambers Farm, and the 1907 Orchard House with a step-back-in-time approach.
Sara enjoyed climbing when we took her to the Garden of the Gods. We saw prairie hawks soaring and rock climbers.
We ate dinner at the Iron Springs Chateau Melodrama. A family-style dinner, with free seconds, includes oven-baked chicken and barbecued beef brisket, mashed potatoes, green beans almandine, pineapple coleslaw, and buttermilk biscuits. We had chocolate pudding for dessert (Gary had 2), and iced tea to drink during dinner. We also had Villains’ Revenge (whiskey sour with citrus) at dinner. Then we went upstairs and watched a melodrama where we were urged to participate by booing and cheering, participated in a sing-along, and watched a vaudeville-style olio show. (Gary was even tussled by the fat lady during a song J). I had a Pink Fuzzy (a strawberry fuzzy navel) and Gary had Mint Surprise during the show.
