After returning from Kim and Eli’s beach wedding we headed straight to southern Germany for a traditional Deutsche wedding.  We met Andra (bride) and Borkhard (groom) through Tom’s school.  Andra and Borkhard met on a high school exchange program and have managed to stay in touch despite the distance and eventually feel in love.

The wedding was traditional so it was a full mass.  After the wedding we drove over to the castle for the reception.  The castle sat on top of a hill over looking the town below.

After talking and some small drinks we were moved around the side of the main room for cake and coffee.  Yes, dessert came first this time!  Then we all noticed that the bride had disappeared.  Just like in Braveheart, at German weddings the bride is stolen away by the groomsmen while the groom and the party must look for her.  We only had to go as far as the first tower but at most wedding where they start Sunday morning the groom and the party go from bar to bar looking for the bride for hours.  In the tower the bridesmaids had to sing and the groom had to plead for his bride before she was let loose.  It was very entertaining!

Dinner was excellent but the winner was the éclair for dessert.  It was delicious.  The night finished up with dancing, singing and of course a cheese and fruit platter!
