Toilet Bar?

Rachel leaving Hamburg
We got up, said our good byes to Nina and took the 10am train to Berlin arriving here at 11:45am.  Well we should have arrived at 11:45 but we had a little hiccup and missed our stop.  We made it to the correct stop about a half hour behind schedule.  We found our hostel and checked in to our 8-bed room before exploring the city.  We had a bite to eat at a little pizza place and then went in serch of the bike tour start location.  We never found it so we settled for a beer at a small bistro with outdoor seating.  We then went back to our hostel to get sittuated.  After that we went downstairs in our hostel to the bar and had a beer with Kristy, a girl from Los Angeles traveling through Europe for 3 months and "couch surfing".
Oops! Wrong Stop!
Its a site where you can sign up and have strangers who come to your city crash on your couch for a night or 2.  Sounds interesting but it makes me wonder how they're paying thier hosts back.  After a beer or 2 (it was happy hour), Rachel & I went to a bar called Klo which literally means toilet.  It was basically a gag bar.  I got sprayed with water when I walked in, the tables go up and down and they have someone telling jokes from a sort of DJ booth.  We sat with a group of German women who were on a  trip away from thier boyfriends/husbands for the weekend.  They didn't speak much English but they were a lot of fun.  Once they left, two people from the US joined us but they were kind of lame so we left and took the subway home and went to bed.  Funny bar but only a one time thing.  -Kate

Great Quiet Hostel
Check in is a breeze here. The staff is super friendly and even mapped out where we were and where some major sites are without even being asked. They have a luggage storage locker if you check in early or are leaving late. The rooms are very clean as are the bathrooms. Another plus, they have several seperate bathrooms on each floor. We booked a 8-person room and got a little nervous when we walked into our room and counted 12 beds, however they never sold the remaining 4 beds even though the hostel was "sold out" due to the Berlin Marathon. We were expecting them to reduce our rate a little and sell those beds rather than honor our reservation, we were impressed that they didn't, big brownie points! The bar downstairs, Belushi's, had happy hour every night with 2-for-1 Carlsberg beers, 1 Euro Jagermeister shots & they have decient bar food. The hostel breakfast is also served at the bar and it's more than just toast; they actually served meat and cheese! They have internet terminals available on the second floor of the bar which is 1 Euro for 20 minutes. I would stay here again and I would look into other St Christopher Hostels if going to another city.
