We took another hop-on hop-off bus here in Copenhagen. We went and saw the little mermaid and we both agreed it was underwelming but it is something you have to do when you go to Copenhagen. We tried to go to Ida Davison (because I saw Samantha Brown go there on Passport to Europe on the Travel Channel) but you need reservations, oh well. We ended up getting pizza on the go. We walked down to Christinia. It was really neat! It's a self goverened hippie village of about 850 residents housed in former military barracks. They openly allow the sale of "soft drugs" on Pusher Street and cameras are prohibited on this street because of that. No cars are allowed in Christiania and the roads are all dirt roads. All of the buildings are graffitied and it is an interesting place to visit. I really enjoyed it. After that we found an internet cafe above a comic book store, checked our email. Then we went to RÄdhuspladsen (the main square) to people watch before heading back to our hostel to rest for a minute. We then went to P.Gallore's Flying Circus for dinner. The veggie burger there was delicious! We walked back and went to a bar called Barcelona where we were completely ignored so we left and ended up at the Dubliner for a Tuborg beer before calling it a night and heading back to the hostel. -Kate
Neat Hippie Village
Christiania is really neat. The roads are dirt and no cars are allowed inside the wall of this self-goverened community. Drugs are sold on Pusher Street so cameras are not allowed in this area. All of the buildings are spray painted. It is well worth the walk to the area. I love the sign as you leave that states "You are now entering the EU." I highly recommend a walk around and the best part is that it's free in a city as expensive as Copenhagen.
