So today we did more of the same... hop on the bus hop off the bus.  it was a good day.  we woke up, walked to the grocery store and got bagels, juice, and other breakfast goods.  then we walked to the bus stop to catch the tour bus.  we took it all around the city and eventually got off at the stop that had a really cool open air market, was close to the library, and had lots and lots of good shops.  we perused the market, walked down the 'library street' looking at shops and walked back to the stop to catch the bus.  it took us next to the island that had the vasa museum (we saw that yesterday), skansen- the open air park, and tivoli: grona lund (a mini disney world complete with elephant and spinning tea cup rides).

we walked around some and caught the bus back into gamla stan (the old city center).  after getting a quick bite to eat, we setttle on o'connels, a traditional irish pub.  the were playing english futbol onthe big telly.  i'm not sure how it happened, but we did end up meeting some interesting brits at the pub.  Dan, a computer programmer from London who had a side-job making xxx-rated movies that he called 'artistic'; his buddy Justin Time (folks, I kid you not, that was really his name), a chef also from England.  and then we met this strange guy named Ahmed that looked like a stranger Richard Pryor (sp?).  Ahmed would not leave me alone for the world.  After o'connels, we met up with some Irishmen/women and went with them to a posh swanky hotel bar.  sometime later we ditched the irish guys and went to the Absolut Ice Bar in the Nordic Sea hotel.  Kate wanted to do this, and I must admit that it was enjoyable in that we got to put on this huge parka caplet and drink vodka drinks from ice cups.

we caught a taxi back to the hostel and went to bed.  it was a good day.  a long, full day.  -rachel

Great to read the update. Shiner and Yoda are doing just great. Can't wait for you to post some pics of all this fun. The open market sounds great and I want to hear more about Tivoli. Have you seen the Little Mermaid? Give her a kiss for me, Love you girls, Nancy S
