We spent our first couple of days enjoying several of the 300 plus temples Chiang Mai has to offer, including taking a local taxi up to the nearby Doi Suthep temple. On Sunday we met up with Linda's cousin, Karen and her two friends, Vicky and Delores. We had a great time visiting the market, several temples and enjoying food and several drinks together. After leaving Karen we walked through the Sunday market towards our hotel, here we got to try fried grasshoppers which were slightly crunchier than the chickens feet we had tried the night before!
The following day we went on a Thai cookery course with the Pad Thai cooking school with the excellent teachers, Meow and Mr Red. Firstly we went to the local market where we were taught about the different ingredients. We spent the whole day cooking six chosen dishes each before being presented with our "Masterchef" certificates and cook books.
On our last day of activities we visited a butterfly and orchid farm before trekking in the jungle. Later we visited two hill tribes, the "black teeth" tribe and the Karen "Long Neck" tribe before ending the day with a trip to a waterfall.
