After almost 8 months back in England we are ready to continue our travels starting in India and heading across South East Asia.

Battambang

Boat to Battambang

We took the boat to Battambang which took 8 hours (about 4 more than suggested).  The journey was quite scenic and very enjoyable as we passed many water villages, although there were a few occasions where we did have to duck for cover when going through some of the narrow channels to avoid the branches covered in thorns attacking us!

We stayed at the Chhaya Hotel which was centrally located and cheap.  Unfortunately the town wasn't quite as picturesque as the guide book described with very few sites so we just spent one day here.  However we did have a pleasant walk along by the river and had a nice lunch at a relaxing restaurant where we spent most of the afternoon chatting to Ronald, a Buddhist monk from San Fransisco.
