trümmelbach falls

to have another reason to visit lauterbrunnen, another candidate for a mountain village to stay in, we were aiming for the trümmelbach waterfalls nearby. since it was still raining a bit, another large body of water falling down couldn't hurt. it's hard to get nice pictures of those places anyway, even in the best of lights.

lauterbrunnen itself is very picturesque with some smaller waterfalls visible from the quiet towncenter. just a small postauto ride away is the entrance to the trümmelbach falls which are moderately priced (CHF 11) and offer a quite interesting special kind of elevator inside the mountain to skip walking up all the way.

the falls are quite spectacular, not in a iguacu kind of way, but the power of the water pushing through the caves is impressive and nicely lit to add to the effect. too many people though and theres quite a bit of congestion to get to the nice spots. since most of it is inside the cave it can easily be visited during rain as most of it is covered.

all in all, quite a nice little excursion if it wasnt for the braindead, obnoxious older swiss tourists...

we ended the day with a dinner in the sunstar restaurant (reservations this time!) in grindelwald rather quiet even though the 'big' 1 august festivities went on. plaza was busier that day at least!
