Well after 2 months being back from my RTW trip, I have been
away again. This time more locally to North Wales
to visit Snowdonia national park and the Isle of Anglesey. It was a long
tedious drive to and from North Wales, the
holiday season means everybody else is on the move and on the road at the same
time so traffic jams and delays are the norm. However once in to North Wales I was rewarded by stunning scenery which
reminded me of my trip to NZ. Dramatic mountains and lakes are in abundance
here. I have to admit after spending 2 months travelling earlier in the year
and seeing nothing but stunning scenery in NZ and OZ I thought the UK would not be
as good but i was wrong. Its just as stunning and on my doorstep. I definitely
need to make the effort to see more of more country.
On Saturday we climbed Snowdon and. Mt Snowdon is the second
highest peak in the UK,
however at 1085m its pretty small by international standards. Grib Goch on the
other hand was a very challenging climb, to reach the summit you have to climb
the 2/3 rds of the way on all fours which was challenging. Then once you reach
the top you have to negotiate a very narrow ridge with sheer drops on either
side. It wasn't what i was expecting but certainly very exciting. After that
the walk to Snowdon seemed very easy indeed,
and was rather disappointing as the summit was completely surrounded in fog.
and there absolutely no view at all.
