These are the places in Vienna which I visited with Travbuddy Jefrois :-)
Short informations about some viennese sights:
Our first destination:
Schönbrunn Palace: Architect Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach designed this palace. The Emporer Franz Josef I of Austria was born in Schönbrunn in the 19th century. He spent his life there and died (1916) also in the Schönbrunn Palace in his sleeping room. The palace and the Schönbrunn gardens have been the location for a few movies (such as James Bond's "The Living Daylights", the famous Sissi trilogy and "Marie Antoinette" by Sofia Coppola)
Gloriette + Schönbrunn gardens: Archichtect Johann Ferdinand Hetzendorf von Hohenberg designed the building. The Gloriette was used as a dining hall, breakfast hall and and also as a festival hall for Emporer Franz Josef I.
Today the inner hall of the building is used for a Café.The second destination:
Inner City:
Wiener Rathaus - Vienna City Hall: The Vienna City Hall is the seat of the mayor and governor of Vienna. The Park of the viennese City Hall is a very beautiful place and is very often the location for events (for example: Wiener Filmfestival during summer, famous "Wiener Christkindlmarkt" - vienna's christmas market in winter).
Parliament: The viennese Parliament was designed by Theophil Hansen and is one of the most important and most beautiful buildings on Vienna's Ring Boulevard.
National library: The Library was designed by the viennese baroque architect Johann Fischer von Erlach.
It's one of the largest baroque museums in Europe.Imperial Palace - Hofburg: Inside are important offices of the President of Austria, congress centers and art collections located.
Kärntner Strasse: The well-known Kärntnerstrasse is one of the most famous shopping streets in Vienna.
St. Stephen's Cathedral: The Cathedral is situated at the heart of Vienna. It's a gothic church and the most famous landmark of Vienna.
Next destination:
Danube island: The island is well-known for fun and for a relaxing place in Vienna. There is a big area with bars, pubs, restaurants clubs and discos. But it's also a perfect place for swimming, rollerblading, canoeing, cycling, relaxing... Every year in summer the Donauinselfest - a big festival takes place at the island.
Last (but not least) destination:
Prater: The viennese Prater is a historic amusement park in Vienna with around 250 attractions, such as the Giant Ferris Wheel, ghost trains, Bungee Jump, Space Shot,... (look at my review about the Prater!)
