Munich - Germany
September 21, 2008
Today was one of my best and worst days of my trip so far although I didn't realize it until the next morning (and is the reason I have been so behind on my posts).
I got to Munich about noon and after checking into my hostel I headed straight out to Oktoberfest. You really get the "Wow, I'm at the REAL Oktoberfest" when you see the big entry sign with a backdrop of huge tents.
I started off by walking the entire thing and taking it all in. I also wanted to try a half chicken that memorized me from afar. The good isn't cheap (like the beer), but it is an essential part of the experience. It was delicious but I fought the urge to buy the other half.
I met up with Tim, the guy I met at Rory's my first day in Europe. We drank a lot haha. I don't mean we kept ordering beers. ... I just mean the glasses are HUGGGGE.
...thats pretty much what a day at Oktoberfest consists of so I'll skip ahead a bit.
After Tima and I lost his friends we went to another tent and met these random Germans at a table. They took us right in. The main guy was named Max. He just so happened to be a CS'er also. We all had a beer talking and laughing while standing up on the benches.
The beer is pretty insignificant except that it was the last thing I remember paying for with my wallet. My wallet had 130 euro and all my cards (which is stupid on my part). Oh shit right? Yeah... that came the next morning.
Tim and I ended up just crashing out at Max's because he lives literally 5 minutes by walk from the tents.
