Carcassonne - France
After my 5 hour train ride I arrived in Carcassonne at around 13h00 It took me about 30 minutes after to set up my train out to Switzerland tomorrow. The routes early in the morning were all booked, so the best the lady could do for me was another night train late tomorrow to Paris followed by another lengthy train ride to Interlaken on Thursday. Its a lot, but its worth it I think to see what I want to see. Perhaps I didn't pick the best route to begin with, but hey, I will make the best of it.
After this slight complication I headed out to the center of town to meet my CS host Owen and grab something for lunch. Owen was very kind to meet me during his break from work and allow me to put my big bag in his trunk.
When we parted ways I went over to the Cathedral first (I am saving the Medieval Carcassonne for tomorrow).
The cathedral doesn't look like much from the outside, but the inside is very nice. The stained glass behind the altar was cool and it had a nice big organ in the back as well. After this I sort of wandered around a bit. There isnt a whole lot to do in this part of Carcassonne in my opinion. I was glad, in a way, because of my lack of sleep last night. I headed back here to Owen's after he got off of work at 18h00. We picked up his daugher (the cutest thing in the world is to see one of the cutest little girls you have ever seen speaking french haha) and then headed home. We had dinner and now I would like to call it an early night. I have a couchette on this night train as opposed to a reclining chair, but if it is anything like the last night train I will need my sleep.
Salut!
