In total I spent three days here, to be honest a bit too short, I'd loved to have done some more hiking.
I was really glad we found a place to stay at the Evergreen Lodge, just a mile outside the park near the Hetch Hetchy entrance, the area near Yosemite Valley is way too crowded for me, spending time in that area is something you can skip unless you like to stand in line to take a picture. The park is large enough to find better spots.
Hetch Hetchy and the O'Shaughnessy dam is worth the drive. You have to leave the park to get to another entrance to get to it. The drive to get to the lake is beautiful, you descend into a valley and when you get there it's a 4 mile hike (one way) to get to Wapama Fall. It's forbidden to swim in the lake since it's the drinking water reservoir for the Bay Area. We filled our bottles at the fall: perfect springwater :)
When you don't really have that much time travel the park west-east/east-west and make some stops at trailheads along the way. Many are quite short so you can do a few in a day, or just take a longer way and turn back early. Don't forget the Sequoias. There are more in the NP bearing their name, but you can see them here aswell, they're very impressive, some are thousands of years old.
