after relaxing for a couple of daya in the tatras, i realized i had to move on to the next leg of my journey. fortunately, i was able to pick up two travel partners and a ride to bratislava, my next destiantion. although we were jammed three in the back seat of a car, it was nice to actually get a ride somewhere versus catching a bus or a train. the ride took about 4 to 5 hours, but was beautiful. the sides of the highway were filled with sunflower fields. it was one of the most beautiful things i have seen.

having been my third eastern european city, bratislava, had some similarities to the rest, but felt a bit quainter than the ones before and a bit on the small side, since we were able to walk through the historic part of the city in about 2 hours. it did have a distinct vibe to it and it felt a bit more modern and hip than prague or krakow. the clubs and bars had a chic modern edge to them...that was unique and somewhat refreshing. i also had my first ten dollar cocktail and it made me think fondly of new york.

since we were able to explore the city in about a day we realized that we should move on in the next day or so to budapest......
