What do you mean the gates are not open?
A short walk with a few thousand Iron Maiden fans got us to the stadium. We got our tour shirts and headed for the bar. A beer later saw us on the stands looking down at the stage and the mad fans who decided to stand and get crushed. The stadium was impressive, and well worth coming to see. Lauren Harris, daughter of the bass guitarist of Iron Maiden was the first on the stage. Her singing was not too bad but she used too much swaring for my liking. A short break and then was a great band who i had only just heard of, Within Temptation. A dutch Gothic Rock Band who could sing very well, I have had their CD on in the car at the moment. I recommend you try them out. They rock!! Next on the bill were Avenged Sevenfold. A gorup i had been listening to on the CD.
Inside the gate.
They were ok but i prefer to listen to them from the CD. Then the moment we were waiting for. The sound of Churchill voice and the intro to Aces High. Maiden were great the stage came alive and Bruce Dickenson was all over the place. First this side then that. Outfit change after change saw the Trooper and the Ancient Mariner blast the arena. With Iron Maiden on stage there was not one single person sat down and the reason was clear. After 30 years on the road they are as good now as ever. As Bruce said at the start 'Most of you weren't born when we started'. Maiden's fan base continues to grow and with another album under way they should be around for another 30 years. Great gig, Great music, Great showman. Up the Irons. Mai-den, Mai-den, Mai-den.
