We have always wanted to visit New york but did not think it would be possible with a 5 year old child in tow. How wrong we were. On a previous holiday we became friendly with a couple from Long Island ( who also had a 5 year old). They told us how child friendly New York could be and invited us out to visit them and to take in the city.
Before our trip we did a lot of info searching on line an brought all our entry tickets/rides etc before hand , this saved us quite a bit of money.
We did a 3hr cruise around manhatten island ( worth doing) , we did a helicopter tour ( fantastic) ,we went up the empire state building ( what a view) we even did a bus tour where you could hop on and hop off arounfd the city. Times square is something else and well worth a visit at night.
The American natural history museum is a must for kids, Central park has over 20 different play areas for children including a fun fair.
We did every toy shop!! Toys R us was best with its giant ferris wheel.
Macy's was mind boggling even my husband enjoyed shopping for a change.
All in all we had a great time and can't wait to go again.
