Wooehoee Istanbul.. Here we Come! :D
Friday 27 and Saturday 28 june 2008
Wooow!! This was the excursion we hoped for that we could make it! This was also the reason why we went to Bulgaria.
Finally We Should Go To TURKEY: ISTANBUL! :D
I heard so many things about this great city and now I could visit it with my own eyes! The excursion will take 2 days, and a lot of hours in the bus..
There were 4 busses that i’ve seen, not all from the same organisation!
- 8 dutch people
- Few english people
- Few swedish people
- All the rest of the people were from russia, hungary and chezch!
I don’t want to talk bad about people, I know there are everywhere bad and good people but this wasn’t that nice as we thought but whatever will talk about the trip!
We woke up at 03.
00! I slept only for maybe 3 hours?? And took everything we wanted to take with us. We had to wait at 05.00 at the busstation nearby our hotel. The way to the boarder of bulgaria/turkey took about 2,5 hour.
When we arrived there I felt happy, being in Turkey for the first time and I knew all the time this will be so much fun! In the bus we’ve met a Marleen and Rogier. They were also my age so that was bit better J It was the first time for them also and normally the wouldn’t go to turkey or an Islamitic country.
At the boarder it took about 1 hour to wait to get our passport back etc. It didn’t feel that bad! Unfortunately the russian ppl were strange and were running OUT of the bus, running! Back to the bus, running for the douane, it seems like they want to get a stamp earlier! Such a strange reaction.. and all the dutch and english ppl were looking like: what is going on?
Finally we could drive to Istanbul!
Maybe it sounds stupid, but I felt like I came back home even this was the first time here.
I felt happy when I saw all the islamitic things, the atmosphere everything... you saw me getting a bigger smile :D
We went to the hotel*** which wasn’t that good. But for one night it’s oke. And after trying to get clean (it was about 40 degrees, really hot) we went downstairs again. There was an possibility to go by a boat at the bosphorus river. Yeah ofcourse we will do that, so we could see whole Istanbul of another view! It was amazing. It took about 2hours but so many nice things to see.
Even rogier, who said he never wanted to go to an islamitic country or something else, he said: ‘This is the first time in Istanbul.. but never be the last, I will go back as soon as possible’.
The only thing that we did not like about this boattrip, we didn’t get any information since we don’t understand the russian language. She was screaming in the microphone and did not speak english! So I hope, if you are in istanbul or bulgaria, and just want english (or your language) information, maybe you can try to go with another boat.
But you really have to do this trip!
Then we had some free time. We went to the bazar and searched for some food, which is pretty easy here. We went to a little cafe where we could eat ‘Durum’. I already tried this before in holland but this one so nice!! Mmm..
Oke after we walked into the bazar and it was amazing.. It’s really big, you can lost if you want. We decided to stay at the ‘main street’ and just go to the left walk back and take another street since we have to be back at the hotel at 20.00 o’clock.
Me, mam, Marleen & Rogier decided to go to the turkish night. They gave some shows and there was turkish food..
I’m really afraid for snakes and I asked to a guy if there will be a snake.
. and he said: yes! I did not like it.. and I asked him if he could tell me when the snake will arrive..
Later that evening he told me when the snake will be there, the man would walk with him behind me, and I start shaking already even the snake was still not there! Pff I was sooooo afraid .. and I thought about sitting somewhere else..
But somehow, I did not believe him and asked him again if there will be a snake and he must tell me the truth! His answer: no there will be no snake.. I watched to rogier and it was all his fault! He knew I hate snakes and he said to the other guy that they have to act like there will be a snake.. pff Thanks rogier ;)
The next day we had to be ready at 08.30am because there will be a guide and show us istanbul! It was a great and long walk at flipflops ;) We saw the Hagia Sophia, Blue mosque. Ofcourse we saw other buildings but I dont know the name of it. It was all really interesting to see and I could have be there much longer! At about 11 o’clock we walked back to the hotel because we had to check out. After that we had free time till 17.00o’clock.
Before we could leave the hotel we had a problem with the reception! They did not want to give us our passport back! Because it is to dangerous at the street.
We understood, but still we wanted our passport back... finally after 15 minutes waiting he gave us our passport back! You will never know what can happen on the street and you need your passport.
We went back to the bazar and ate a ‘Durum’ again! We visited some shops and bought the last souvenirs. We bought real turkish ‘Baklava’. This was the first time for me that I ate it and def. Not the last time. It was delicious. When I came home and I talked with fatih about this shop. He told me it is one of the known company in turkey who made baklava.
On the way back to bulgaria (we did not want to leave L) we stopped at a little village to buy some turkish delight. Late in the night, about 02.
00am, we arrived at the hotel and were tired! Soo tired but it was totally worth it.. I hope to come back as soon as possible! Love this incredible and great city.
