Our last day & night in N'awlins

The Reef exhibit at the Aquarium of the Americas
Today was free of everything. I had no tours booked because I figured that we would venture on foot. I hadn't planned in all the walking we had already done the nights and days before. My feet were killing me. lol
When we stepped out of the hotel on this day we almost immediately wanted to turn around and go back to the cool hotel room. The humidity was kicking our butt. We have humidity in Virginia but this was ridiculous. After a small breakfast/lunch we headed for the waterfront. I suggested going to the Aquarium of the Americas simply to get out of the heat. We got in line to get our tickets. By the time we got in we were both sticky and hot. It felt great inside. Almost a little too cool but it turned out to only be like that right by the entrance. We enjoyed the first exhibit of the Caribbean Reef a lot.

As we went on we passed several exhibits with exotic fish. There was even a frog exhibit. The rain forest exhibit was nice. If you've been to D.C.'s National Zoo and the Amazonia there you'll know exactly what to expect, minus the heat. It was a comfortable temperature inside comparing to the alternative outside.
I was surprised to see some parrots, an albino (!) alligator, a few other birds and a beautifully put together "Kids section". This is were the touch tank is located. You get to touch a mini shark or stingrays. Very cool.
After a couple of hours in the cool aquarium we got back outside. It was muggy and raining! Great!
We crossed the street and went to the Mall, I forget its name. Mainly high line stores not for the every day window shop. lol
We went back to the hotel to change since we did get wet on our walk back. For dinner we walked back towards the waterfront.
We decided to eat at "Landry's Seafood House". (see review)
After, we took one final stroll on Bourbon Street. Going back to our favorite spots like the Sing Sing.

Enjoyable, especially during rain or high humidity
On a hot/humid day in New Orleans I recommend going to the Aquarium of the Americas. It's located at the Mississippi Waterfront, right where the ferry landing is. The IMAX theater is located in the same building and there are great deals if you want to visit both.
Tickets are $17.50 per adult. It's not the cheapest but there is plenty to see inside and hey! They need to feed those animals from something right? I was surprised to see a stingray touch tank and an albino alligator! The aquarium itself is on 2 levels. The exhibits are very pretty. The lush rain forest exhibit, where you can find a couple of parrots, was my favorite. It was complete with indoor waterfall and a tree house trail.
We had a good time and it was great to get out of the heat for a while.
Enjoy!

We had dinner here one night. The place was packed. We were promptly seated anyways. Our waitress was very friendly even though she must have had one hell of a night.
Now here comes our mistake. Ordering a burger at a seafood place. But had had too much seafood in the prior days so we went for it. The burgers were alright. Hubby claimed that his was overdone. Mine was just fine. The fries were a dream. But I am skipping the delicious starters we had. I ordered Mozzarella & Tomatoes and hubby had the fresh oysters. Both very good. I had a glass of Gewürztraminer White wine which was divine. I thought it was a great place to eat at but we should have went for the seafood.
