Boating in Style

My parents own a boat on the Willamette River which runs through the city of Portland, dividing East from West. Their boat is docked right by where the Portland Blues Festival is set-up. This means four days of great music, great friends/family and great food. It's one of the best times to come out! We BBQ'd almost everyday and it was just awesome. It was muggy at first (I think due to that smoke warning) and then it gradually got nicer. By the last day it was actually hot and I got sunburnt! I was expecting a little nicer weater but hey, it beats Chicago weather! The great thing about where my parents dock their boat is that its right next to the Waterfront paths.
I also got to see one of my new favorite bands, Back Door Slam, perform at the Festival. The Festival consistantly brings in top local and national acts to play. I am always impressed. All it takes to get in is a $10 donation with two cans of food. The whole event is put on to sponsor the Oregon Food Bank. I think they raise over $500,000 ever year, plus all that canned food! I am defintely glad to be a part of that!
Ah, nothing beats Portland in July...well actually nothing beats Portland ever. It is most definitely, hands down, my favorite city ever. I've been to enough to make that claim. I mean, I am a bit biased because I grew up there, but it really is fabulous!!
