With 19 days of vacation to enjoy we embarked on yet another radical journey: Chile, Bolivia and Peru. We started in Santiago do Chile, headed on to the Atacama Desert, made a 4X4 drive up Bolivia to the Uyuni Salt Flat, stopped in La Paz, spent some time in Lake Titicaca, crossed into Peru… headed for Cuzco by train and ended our trip gloriously in Machu Picchu after a one day trek along the Inca trail.

Stars everywhere!

We arrived at 22:35 after a 30 minute stop at Antofagasta. Our tour agency picked our “Sonhos à Medida Group” up on a 9 PAX Minibus Sprinter for a 1 hour transfer to Hotel Casa Don Tomás in San Pedro de Atacama for accommodation. During our drive through the desert we got our first glimpse of the beautiful starry Atacama night sky.


The air in Atacama is so dry, it hasn't rained in decades, there are no clouds in the sky to be found and the medium altitude is 4000 meters..... perfect ingredients for star gazing. There are no cluEvery time we looked into the sky at night we would always see a shooting star. I guess this is why Atacama has many NASA and ESA telescopes.
