I’ve moved to Morocco, permanently… I’ve got Africa to the south and Europe to the north, awaiting me and my guitar… But first things first. I’ve got to put down roots here in Morocco. And while I’m doing that, I’m going to go play music in Every Single Town in the whole country…

0215. Dreary day in Boskoura (Mor 063--new)

Dreary day in Bouskoura

Ramadan has put a temporary damper on my village to village parkbenching tour--a lot of folks aren't really in the mood for guitar music and--no cafes to sit at during the day...

After a couple of weeks of just focusing on writing and learning a few more songs, I started getting itchy feet again... not quite sure what to do, I just walked to the nearest city bus stop and got on the first bus that went by... it took me to a fascinating neighborhood miles away... and it struck me that there's a lot of Casablanca that I haven't seen yet--and since this is my new adopted home, I should really get to know the entire city.

So I decided to start taking random city buses--and then exploring and maybe playing a few songs in each neighborhood I discover...

For a full description of this tour go to my "Portugal" blog and look up "Casablanca"

Here's just one neighborhood that I visited that is actually a separate town, so it gets its own blog entry...

I've been looking forward to discovering Bouskoura for quite some time... took me a while to figure out how to get here--only to find that it's nothing but a splattering of homes, dirty fields, factories and warehouses with little character and no "cohesiveness"... And it was raining... and it's Ramadan--so not even a cafe I could sit down at... making Bouskoura possibly my suckiest parkbenching session in Morocco so far...

On the bright side, a really cool fight broke out in front of me--involving a least 15 teenage boys with sticks, formidable looking rocks and a german shepherd... The adults in the vicinity watched for a little while, then finally intervened when the a fellow got knocked down by a flying rock... Other than that, pretty bored with Bouskoura...

I finally found a little solitary shelter from the rain where I could discreetly take my video clip...
