0208. To Beni Chekir on foot (Mor 056--new)
The country road I hiked along went on and on and on until it finally turned into a dirt path. I saw a couple of sizeable buildings on yonder hillside, so I decided to keep going to investigate. It took me a little while to figure out a way between the houses to get to the top but I finally made it.
I had just discovered the town of Beni Chekir... I love it when I arrive at a parkbenchable town on foot. Beni Chekir is only a couple of blocks square, perched on a hilltop with great views of the surrounding countryside-- but it has a grand taxi station, a quiet little market and a couple of banks. It seems to be a metalworking town with a number of welding shops around town buzzing with activity.
I played my set on a nearby hillside under an olive grove, soaking in the view of the landscape...
