0202. No hotel town (Mor 051--new)

Late afternoon, back in Berkane I gamble that I'll be able to find a place to stay in Zaio, the next town down the road... nope...

I still set out quickly to explore the town--figure I'll worry about lodging afterwards.  The town is situated right at the base of the mountains with a great view of the valley from the "top end" of town.  The cool evening breeze feels great as I hike up to the edge of the mountains to get a look...

Only a couple of hash smokers hanging around in the rather dingy plaza where I parkbench, so I don't stick around too long.

Would've liked to have dwadled in Zaio longer, but with no hotels, not a whole lot of late night transportation and not in the mood for going around asking folks for a place to stay,  I find a taxi kbir heading to Nador.  It’s just me and another passenger--the other guy suggests we each pay double fare so the taxi will head out sooner... Being the miser that I am I refuse…

"Good luck finding a bus at this hour" the driver snorts...

Finally he caves in and we head out... He picks up a few more passengers on the way, and I only pay single fare--so it ends up being a win win situation...
